OptRx Takes Off

30th April 2012

As we come to the end (if the weather will let us) of a busy season I thought it was about time to show how well the OptRx appears to be working.

The left image shows the readings recorded by the OptRx (Vegetative Index). The right image shows the changes in application rate applied in a field of Fashion Winter Oil Seed Rape.

From these maps it is easy to see the area at the South of the field that was Vining Peas last year and how it had grown much more vigourously than the rest of the field which was Winter Wheat the year before.

We have had a lot of interest in the OptRx this year and from the maps it appears to have worked very well. We'll have to wait and see what results we get at harvest. If we continue to get customer interest in using the OptRx for varying Nitrogen application rates we will consider a second setup for next Spring so that we can continue to keep on top of application timings.

Anyone interested in trying the OptRx next year who would like more information please get in touch, depending on traveling distance we will be happy to demonstrate the system to you on a relatively small area.
